Statement of Intent
The organisations and companies operating within Headingley Cricket Ground fully support the principle of equal opportunities, oppose all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination on the grounds of disability and will strive to comply with both the provisions and spirit of the Disability Discriminations Act.
Definition of ‘Disabled’
For the purposes of this policy the definition of a disabled customer/supporter is:
“An individual who, because of a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on their ability to undertake normal day to day activities and who because of their disability or impairment, is unable to use the facilities within the stadium in a conventional manner without their health and safety being compromised.”
Visually impaired customers, and those using wheelchairs, should ideally be accompanied by a carer capable of assisting the disabled person in the event of an emergency. The Stadium Management strongly recommends that the carer should be at least 18 years of age.
Admission Charges for Disabled and Carers
Disabled customers are required to pay the normal admission charge applying to the event they wish to attend. Should, on account of the severity of their disability, the disabled customer require the assistance of a carer the carer will be admitted free of charge.
Concessionary admission charges that apply for the scheduled event will be available to disabled Junior and disabled Senior Citizen customers.
Bookings for disabled facilities at YCCC fixtures should be made as early as possible (and at least seven days before the fixture) by telephoning the YCCC Ticket Office on 0843 504 3099 (Option 1). Bookings for international matches should be made at least 14 days in advance of the matchday.
All facilities are subject to availability.
The ratio of carers to wheelchair customers fluctuates. Many wheelchair customers are not accompanied by carers therefore the capacity for wheelchairs increases.
Proof of Disability
The Club reserves the right to request proof of disability prior to making disabled facilities available to a member of the public.
Such proof may include:
Confirmation of receipt of the middle or higher rate of Disability Living Allowance with a mobility or care component.
Confirmation of receipt of either the Severe Disablement Allowance or Attendance Allowance.
A personal letter of support from your GP.
DISABLED CAR PARKING
Parking in and around the ground is very restricted. The Yorkshire County Cricket Club has a limited number of parking spaces, which they issue to disabled members. A limited number of ‘pay on the day’ spaces are available to the general public for matchdays on a first come first served basis. Proof of disability, as previously detailed, is required.
Cost of seasonal car parking is £120 per season – subject to availability.
PLEASE NOTE: The YCCC seasonal parking passes do not admit the holder to any international matches played at Headingley Cricket Ground. For international cricket matchdays, a limited number of passes for disabled customers are available, upon application, at a cost of £10 per day. Holders of Orange and Blue disabled parking badges will be required to provide proof of disability in line with the previously detailed requirements. Holders of such badges do not have automatic right of entry to stadium car parks for any fixture/event.
