Our hosts won the toss and elected to bate first but Ben Cliff struck in his first over having Ali lbw for five (8-1) however Velani joined Wagstaffe and they added 40 in 28 balls before the latter fell to a stunning catch at long on by Harry Duke.
The new batter, Finch, made 54 from 39 but the star was Velani who made 81 from 42 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes as Derbyshire reached 141-3 with 28 balls remaining. Thomson fell to a fine run out by Finlay Bean but it was left to James Wharton, who in the 20th over, took a hat trick to close with 4-28 from his 4 overs – Derbyshire totalled 182-7.
At 13-2 after 10 deliveries Yorkshire needed a partnership but Tattersall was caught at mid wicket for 12 (37-3). Will Fraine joined Harry Duke and they did add 59 in 48 balls but Fraine departed for 34 with Duke following four balls later for 38.
Wickets then fell at regular intervals as Derbyshire wrapped up victory by 60 runs.
Yorkshire won the toss and batted first but were able to build only one major partnership- Bean and Allinson adding 52. Bean made a run a ball 37 and Allinson46 not out from 38 as a total of 138 was posted.
Derbyshire lost only three wickets as they reached their target with 13 deliveries to spare.
Yorkshire have now played six games, winning one, two abandoned and three losses and remaining games are at Leicestershire on Monday 30th May, at Blackpool on 1st June and a double header at Harrogate on Friday 3rd June.
