Report: Yorkshire 2nd XI vs SACA (Day Two)

— 26 April 2022

Our visitors resumed at 122-5, trailing by 64 and it took until the 16th over of the day for Yorkshire to make the breakthrough when Harry Sullivan had Umeed held at slip by Wharton for a well made 77 – this was made from 123 balls with 9 fours and a six.

Keeper, Wijesurya, made 35 from 93 balls and helped push them ahead before he became Sullivans third victim, falling lbw.

Lunch was taken at 196-8. Some late lusty blows saw the lead extend to 26. Sullivan returning figures of 13-3-28-4.

Yorkshires reply got off to the worst start possible with Fraine being caught at mid wicket first ball of the innings, Wharton was lbw for 13 and Tattersall caught at slip for 22 but at tea Will Luxton was unbeaten on 45 and Yorkshire were 92-3, a lead of 66.

Waite and Luxton took the score to 137 before the latter was bowled for 57 from 94 balls with 7 fours, however from here Yorkshire subsided to 184 all out losing our last 7 wickets for 47 runs in 16.1 overs – Ul-Hasan finishing with 5-23 from 10.4 overs.

On a wicket that was showing signs of uneven bounce our visitors required 159 for victory, however in the five overs remaining they were reduced to 7-2, Jack Shutt dismissing both openers.

The final day should be intriguing.
