2nd XI report: Yorkshire vs Northants (Day 1)

— 12 April 2022

Firstly, welcome back to everyone – the first day of the season took place at an initial bright, cool and breezy Bradford Park Avenue although this changed throughout the day to become very cold. All credit then to the players, officials and sizeable number of spectators who turned up.

Yorkshire won the toss and decided to bat first. Will Fraine and James Wharton faced an initial 25 dot balls but added 57 before the latter was caught behind for 21 from 56 balls. England under 19 World Cup runner up, Will Luxton then helped add 23 for the second wicket before Will Fraine was well caught down the leg side by keeper Keast for 53 from 70 balls with 9 fours.

Will Luxton and Jonny Tattersall remained unbeaten at lunch having taken the score to 101-2. Post lunch they added a further 70 before Luxton was bowled for 48 from 96 balls (4×4).

Tattersall reached his half century from 61 balls with 5 fours and added 66 for the fourth wicket with skipper, Matthew Waite before he was well held low down at deep mid wicket for 75 from 120 balls in the first over after tea – the score at 237-4.

The 2 Matthews, Waite and Revis, took the score to 287 without further loss before bad light and rain brought a end to play at 5.04pm. Revis 22 not out and Waite 62 not out from 103 balls.

Play is due to recommence at 11am on Tuesday 12th April.
