Yorkshire’s women were frustrated by the weather as their pair of Bank Holiday Monday T20s at Harrogate were either interrupted or abandoned.
The White Rose hosted the North East Warriors hoping to make it four wins from four in the ECB’s Women’s County T20 competition.
Only 11 overs were possible across both matches as rain swept in around midday, frustrating the players and those watching on the available live stream.
There was enough time for the hosts, who won the toss, to reach a commanding 124-1 in the first game, with Bess Heath top-scoring with 52 off 36 at the top of the order.
The wicketkeeper-batter combined with in-form Hollie Armitage to share a century opening partnership, with the latter adding 49 off 28.
Armitage was the only wicket, trapped lbw, to end a 110 stand in only 9.3 overs.
Sporting the county’s brand new blue Nike T20 kit, Yorkshire are back in action on Sunday when they welcome Lancashire to Harrogate’s St George’s Road ground for another two fixtures (11am and 3pm).
Lancashire have an identical record to Yorkshire so far – two wins and two rained off from four fixtures.
The Red Rose should field Australian seamer Piepa Cleary. Yet to make her international debut, Cleary is a regular in the Big Bash with Perth Scorchers.
There is also the likelihood of a clash between two England 2017 World Cup winners; Yorkshire’s Beth Langston and Lancashire’s Alex Hartley.
