After a break of 53 days 2nd XI red ball cricket returned – Day one was abandoned due to rain but day two started on time following a minutes silence. Yorkshire fielded four debutants.

Lancashire won the toss and asked Yorkshire to bat first on a green looking surface however James Wharton and Yash Vagadia looked assured and reached 50 in the 17th over although Wharton was dropped twice. Seventeen overs remained and a welcome sight was that of Matthew Fisher with the new ball – he had an appeal for a catch behind the wicket in his first over but struck in his second. He bowled six consecutive overs with four maidens taking 2 for 5.

Ben Cliff also struck and a fourth wicket saw Kurtis Watson caught by Josh Sullivan from the bowling of his brother, Harry. Lancashire ended the day 33-4.
