2ND XI REPORT: DURHAM V YORKSHIRE DAY 1

On a glorious day and in front of a sizeable crowd the home team won the toss and elected to bat first.

Openers Drissell and McKinney made full use of the lightning quick outfield reaching 73 before, in the 16th over George Hill had McKinney caught behind and in his next over he had Crawley caught at mid on and Durham were 85-2 however they reached lunch without further loss posting 118 from 31 overs.

The afternoon session however belonged to Yorkshire who struck at regular intervals reducing Durham to 249-8 at tea and the innings was wrapped up shortly after the break for 269.

There were two wickets each for Ben Cliff, Tom Loten, George Hill, Harry Sullivan and the impressive Charlie McMurran from the Academy who is making his debut at this level.

Yorkshire had 23 overs left to bat in the day and James Wharton and George Hill appeared to be untroubled adding 115 until with four balls remaining in the day Hill was caught at mid on for 64, an innings including 14 boundary fours.
